Advent 2016

HBC Family,

Welcome again to the blessed season of Advent!

The word advent means “coming” and that is the emphasis of this time in the life of our church.

We will take the four Sundays in December (including Christmas Day this year) to relive the anticipation of the arrival of our Messiah, and in this way we remind ourselves of the significance of His first coming and cultivate a longing for His second coming.

This year, we will do so by meditating on the four themes of what Christ “became for us” from 1 Corinthians 1:30: our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. Each of our pastors, as has been customary in years past, will preach a sermon on one theme.

Ultimately, these four themes are what our world is so desperate for, and the coming of Jesus is the answer to the world’s desperation. The birth of Jesus was the birth of our hope for wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption.

We encourage you to be us and to invite your neighbors, friends, co-workers, and family to join us this Advent season as we remember our need and discover our fullness in the coming of Jesus.

May His wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption be yours,

Your Pastors,
Jonathan, Mark, Keith and Ted
